South Korea is set to increase international flight operations this winter, enhancing connectivity.
South Korea has announced plans to expand its international flight operations for the upcoming winter season. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport revealed that a total of 5,353 weekly international flights will be scheduled on 264 routes connecting 44 countries from October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027.
This increase reflects a 7.6% rise from the previous winter season, surpassing pre-pandemic levels. The expansion is primarily driven by increased demand for travel to Japan and China, with weekly flights to these countries rising significantly.
The initiative will be supported by 84 airlines, including 11 South Korean carriers and 73 foreign airlines. This move is seen as a strategic effort to boost tourism and facilitate smoother travel experiences during the winter months.
As South Korea continues to recover from the impacts of the pandemic, this expansion of international flights is expected to enhance global connectivity and meet the growing travel demand among citizens and tourists alike.
