Hanwha Aerospace has started building a guided-rocket factory in Poland, enhancing local defense production.
On November 4, 2026, Hanwha Aerospace officially broke ground on a new precision-guided rocket manufacturing facility in Gorzow Wielkopolski, Poland. This project is a collaboration with the Polish defense manufacturer WB Group and aims to bolster Poland's ammunition production capabilities.
The factory will produce CGR-080 guided rockets, designed for the Homar-K multiple rocket launcher, which is a modified version of South Korea's K239 Chunmoo system. This initiative represents a significant shift in Poland's defense strategy, moving from reliance on imported weapons to establishing domestic production capabilities.
Poland's Deputy Defense Minister, Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, attended the groundbreaking ceremony, emphasizing the importance of local manufacturing in ensuring military readiness. The facility is expected to create over 200 jobs and contribute to Poland's goal of becoming self-sufficient in missile production.
Initial production is slated to begin in late 2029, with full-scale operations expected by 2030. This development is part of a broader defense cooperation between South Korea and Poland, especially in light of increased security concerns in Europe following the conflict in Ukraine. The partnership will not only enhance Poland's military capabilities but also facilitate technology transfer and local supply chain development.
