Hanwha Aerospace has officially broken ground on a new guided rocket manufacturing plant in Gorzow Wielkopolski, Poland. This facility aims to enhance the company's defense production capabilities in Europe.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Wednesday, marking a significant step for Hanwha Aerospace and its joint venture with Poland's WB Group, known as Hanwha WB Advanced Systems. The plant is expected to be completed by 2028 and will be the first of its kind for Hanwha in Europe.
The facility will focus on producing CGR-080 guided rockets, specifically designed for the Polish HOMAR-K multiple rocket launcher system, which is based on Hanwha's Chunmoo technology. The initial batch of rockets is projected to be ready by late 2029, with full-scale production commencing in 2030.
This project is part of a broader strategy to strengthen Poland's domestic defense manufacturing capabilities while expanding Hanwha Aerospace's footprint in the European market. Poland has increasingly become a key customer for South Korean defense products, having made substantial procurement agreements for various military systems.
