LG Display is preparing to launch its next-generation Flip OLED technology, focusing on production efficiency.
LG Display is gearing up for the rollout of its innovative Flip OLED technology, which integrates advanced OLED capabilities and know-how. Although the specific timing and investment for mass production have yet to be finalized, the company is confident in its enhanced production efficiency and cost competitiveness compared to existing methods.
During a recent earnings call, CFO Kim Sung-hyun emphasized the company's strategy of making cautious investments in future technologies, guided by market demand and customer consultations. He stated, "We are systematically preparing to secure the company's future growth engines and to secure mass-production competitiveness at an early stage."
The Flip technology utilizes 8th-generation motherglass and patterns the RGB layers without the need for a fine metal mask, which enhances production efficiency. An Yu-sin, responsible for mid-size planning at LG Display, highlighted the technology's advantages in brightness, lifespan, and power consumption, as well as its ability to create optimized pixels tailored to device characteristics.
Despite the technological advancements, LG Display has not yet committed to specific investments or mass production timelines. The company is focused on solidifying its leadership in OLED technology and delivering unique value to customers, while continuously evaluating the market environment for future decisions.
