LG Chem is utilizing AI to enhance patient targeting and develop personalized cancer vaccines, marking a significant advancement in precision oncology.

LG Chem is making strides in the field of precision oncology by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to identify patients who may benefit from personalized cancer vaccines. The company aims to enhance the development of these bespoke mRNA vaccines, which are tailored to the unique characteristics of each patient's cancer.

During the recent LG AI Bio Conference held in Seoul, Son Ji-woong, president of LG Chem, emphasized the importance of AI in the drug development process. He stated, "AI is evolving from a tool for new drug development into a core engine that determines competitiveness."

The company is focusing on identifying biomarkers that predict treatment responses, which will help in selecting patients for clinical trials. This approach not only aims to improve the efficacy of the drugs but also enhances the likelihood of successful clinical outcomes.

LG Chem plans to complete preclinical studies for its personalized mRNA cancer vaccines by next year, with full-scale clinical development expected to commence in 2029. The integration of AI in this process is seen as a pivotal factor in identifying the optimal therapeutic targets for each patient.

The conference also highlighted global collaborations and advancements in AI-driven drug development, with various biotech leaders discussing the transformative impact of AI in the industry.
