Presidents Erdogan and Ramos-Horta will meet with President Lee this week.
This week, South Korea will host Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and East Timorese President Jose Ramos-Horta for diplomatic discussions with President Lee Jae-myung.
Erdogan's visit, scheduled from Monday to Wednesday, marks his first trip to South Korea since 2018. The summit on Tuesday will focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, and defense. This meeting follows President Lee's visit to Turkey for a NATO summit last year.
On the other hand, President Ramos-Horta's visit from Thursday to Saturday is significant as it is the first by an East Timorese leader since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 2002. Their discussions will aim to strengthen cooperation in areas such as security, climate change, and human exchanges.
These visits underscore South Korea's growing diplomatic engagement with both Turkey and East Timor, paving the way for future collaborations as they approach the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Turkey.
