South Korea's Foreign Minister Cho Hyun held a series of bilateral talks with officials from the European Union, Britain, India, and Mexico at the recent G20 meeting in the United States.
During his meeting with Kaja Kallas, the EU's high representative for foreign affairs, Cho emphasized the need to strengthen security partnerships, particularly in cyber and space domains. The two leaders also discussed the ongoing security situations on the Korean Peninsula and in Ukraine.
In discussions with British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, Cho advocated for enhanced cooperation in defense and artificial intelligence. They acknowledged the importance of collaboration as both nations are set to chair the G20 in the coming years, with Britain in 2027 and South Korea in 2028.
Additionally, Cho met with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to review the progress of agreements made during President Lee Jae Myung's state visit to India earlier this year. He also spoke with Mexican Foreign Minister Roberto Velasco, focusing on expediting the implementation of a revised bilateral investment treaty.
These discussions reflect South Korea's commitment to fostering international cooperation and strengthening diplomatic ties with key global partners.
