The South Korean won has decreased slightly against the U.S. dollar as traders anticipate the Federal Reserve's upcoming meeting.
The South Korean won edged down against the U.S. dollar on October 27, reflecting market concerns ahead of a Federal Reserve meeting. At 3:30 PM, the won was quoted at 1,323.7 won per dollar, down 0.6 won from the previous trading session.
Earlier in the day, the won had reached a high of 1,322.8 won per dollar, buoyed by stronger-than-expected economic growth in the third quarter. The country's economy expanded by 1 percent during July to September, driven by robust semiconductor exports and investments.
Foreign investors were active in the stock market, purchasing a net 592.9 billion won (approximately $447 million) worth of local shares. This activity contributed to a 3.09 percent increase in the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index, which closed at 5,638.34.
Market observers are closely monitoring the Federal Reserve's decisions regarding interest rates, which could impact currency values globally. The outcome of this meeting could lead to further fluctuations in the won's value in the coming days.
