In response to North Korea's threats of deploying more weapons, South Korea's military chief has ordered a strong military readiness.
South Korea's top military officer, General Jin Yong-sung, has issued a directive for a stern response to any provocations from North Korea. This order comes after North Korea's recent threats to deploy additional weapons along the inter-Korean border and resume propaganda broadcasts.
During a visit to a front-line military unit, General Jin criticized North Korea for blaming South Korea for the increased tensions following a land mine explosion that injured three South Korean soldiers. He emphasized that it is unacceptable for North Korea to characterize South Korea's legitimate military measures as provocations.
Kim Yo-jong, sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, stated that her country is considering resuming loudspeaker propaganda against South Korea, citing instability along the border. She claimed that South Korea's military activities were hindering North Korea's fortification efforts.
General Jin instructed the military to respond decisively to any violations of the Armistice Agreement and to reinforce South Korea's initiatives in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). He reaffirmed that the recent mine blast was a clear provocation and a violation of the armistice.
The situation remains tense as both sides prepare for potential escalations along the border.
