SM Entertainment is pursuing legal action against harmful content targeting its artists.
SM Entertainment has announced a strong legal response to malicious posts aimed at its artists, addressing issues of defamation and harassment on various platforms.
In a statement released on October 12, the company emphasized that anonymity on international platforms will no longer shield individuals from legal consequences. Despite previous warnings, harmful content continues to circulate, particularly on platforms like YouTube and Instagram.
The company has been actively collecting evidence for three months, identifying accounts involved in defamation and sexual harassment. SM Entertainment is working with legal firms in both South Korea and the U.S. to pursue these cases.
They clarified that legal actions will extend not only to those who posted the content but also to users who commented. The company is committed to holding perpetrators accountable under a zero-tolerance policy.
SM Entertainment expressed gratitude to fans for their support and urged continued reporting of malicious content through their reporting system, “KWANGYA 119.”
