Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron are ramping up production of high-bandwidth memory to meet rising AI demands.

Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron Technology are significantly increasing their investments in high-bandwidth memory (HBM) production. This move is driven by the growing demand for AI applications, supported by long-term supply contracts with major customers.

Traditionally, the semiconductor industry has adjusted production based on market conditions, leading to fluctuations in earnings. However, these companies are now focusing on securing long-term agreements, which provide more stability and predictability in their production plans.

Samsung has effectively sold out its planned HBM supply for the upcoming year and aims to secure long-term contracts covering 60% to 70% of its production capacity through 2030. This strategy allows the company to forecast demand more accurately and plan its investments accordingly.

Similarly, SK Hynix has also signed long-term contracts with 14 major clients, ensuring a stable demand base for its next-generation HBM4 memory. The company plans to maximize production capacity at its M15X facility to meet this demand.

Micron, on the other hand, is expanding its production facilities across Asia and the United States. The company has secured contracts for most of its planned HBM supply and is set to begin initial production at its new facilities in Singapore and Idaho in the coming years. Overall, these expansions reflect a robust commitment from these manufacturers to meet the future demands of the AI market.
