Samsung Electronics is poised to become the first South Korean company to surpass 200 trillion won (approximately $146.6 billion) in cash assets, according to recent industry data.
As of the third quarter of 2026, the tech giant's cash and cash equivalents are estimated at 214.8 trillion won, marking a significant increase from 190 trillion won just three months prior. This figure is nearly double the 108.5 trillion won recorded at the end of the third quarter of 2025.
The company's total assets have also grown, reaching 791.8 trillion won at the end of September, up 32.4 trillion won from the previous quarter. Analysts believe that Samsung's current cash reserves are sufficient to fully fund its shareholder return policy announced in August, which is expected to allocate between 90 trillion and 110 trillion won for shareholder returns in 2026.
In addition to shareholder returns, Samsung is set to invest over 100 trillion won in chipmaking infrastructure and research and development this year, with a significant portion allocated to expanding its memory production facilities. The company anticipates that the semiconductor supercycle, driven by sustained investments in AI and a memory supply crunch, will continue into the next year.
Samsung plans to announce its shareholder policy for 2027 at an upcoming board meeting scheduled for January.
