Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co. has announced a major supply agreement worth 879.3 billion won (approximately $659.3 million) for multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) intended for artificial intelligence (AI) servers. This contract, which will commence on December 21, marks a significant milestone for the company in the rapidly evolving tech sector.
The electronic components division of Samsung Electronics revealed that this is the eighth long-term supply agreement they have disclosed in 2026, and it stands as the second-largest MLCC contract announced this year. The company has successfully secured a total of 5.18 trillion won in long-term supply agreements for various components, including silicon capacitors and inductors for AI applications.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics is currently in negotiations with around 50 clients for high-value MLCCs, expecting these deals to contribute significantly to its revenue in the coming year. The MLCCs are crucial for stabilizing electrical currents in various devices, including smartphones, PCs, and automotive electronics, with AI servers requiring even more advanced manufacturing techniques.
According to market analysis from Goldman Sachs, the global market for AI server MLCCs is projected to grow at an annual rate of about 34%, expanding from $1.4 billion in 2025 to $5.8 billion by 2030. Samsung Electro-Mechanics is well-positioned in this market, holding over 40% of the global share, reinforcing its leadership in the AI server component sector.
