Raimondo Lucariello emphasizes K-food's role in enhancing trade ties between South Korea and Italy.
In a recent interview, the new Italian Trade Commissioner in Seoul, Raimondo Lucariello, expressed optimism about the potential of K-food to strengthen trade relations between South Korea and Italy. He highlighted the importance of the wine sector, stating, "K-food can help open the door to broader trade ties."
Lucariello praised the global popularity of Korean cuisine and noted that the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) plans to offer more wine-tasting classes tailored for South Koreans. He remarked on the cultural exchange, mentioning that Italy could learn from South Korea's success in promoting its cultural content internationally.
The ITA, celebrating its 100th anniversary, aims to support Italian companies in expanding their presence in overseas markets. The agency's showroom in Seoul, High Street Italia, plays a crucial role in these efforts, showcasing Italian products and culture.
Lucariello, who has begun a four-year term, aims to expand exports across various sectors, leveraging the complementary strengths of both countries. In 2025, Italy exported $6.66 billion worth of goods to South Korea, primarily in luxury goods and food. He believes that by creating synergies, both nations can explore new business opportunities.
