North Korean leader Kim Jong-un emphasized the need for a swift naval expansion during his visit to the Nampho shipyard.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un recently visited the Nampho shipyard, where he underscored the importance of rapidly enhancing the country's naval combat capabilities. This visit, reported by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), comes amid rising tensions in the region, which Kim attributes to 'hostile acts of the enemies.'
During the inspection, Kim was briefed on the shipyard's upgrades and examined a new warship currently under construction. He stated, 'It is vital to bolster our surface and underwater combat power to defend our national sovereignty.' Kim expressed satisfaction with the new vessel, describing it as 'incomparably huge' compared to previous models.
The ship is believed to be designed for complex operational missions, reflecting North Korea's commitment to modernizing its naval forces. Kim called for improvements in the shipyard's production processes, including automation and the construction of additional docks.
This push for naval expansion aligns with North Korea's broader strategy of enhancing its military capabilities, particularly in response to perceived threats from the United States and its allies. The regime aims to develop advanced warships that can serve as a deterrent in the region.
