KEPCO Wins Grand Prize at 2025 Second-Half Korea Compliance Awards

Korea Electric Power (KEPCO) said on Oct. 24 that it won the public-institution grand prize at the 2025 second-half Korea Compliance Awards, held the previous day at Seoul Square in central Seoul.

Organized by the Korea Compliance Association, the awards recognize institutions that have contributed to advancing and spreading compliance practices in the country. Compliance refers to internal control and ethical management activities through which a company voluntarily observes relevant laws, regulations and ethical standards to meet its business goals.

KEPCO built a company-wide internal control framework last year to head off risks before they occur. This year the utility says it strengthened execution by holding on-site briefings across all of its business offices, deploying an internal control IT system and running an organization-wide assessment.

The company said it earned high marks for preventing risks specific to each of its business areas — including electricity sales, transmission and substations, construction and overseas projects — and for operating a systematic internal control regime.

KEPCO added that it has pursued a range of voluntary programs to spread a culture of integrity and ethics, such as internal control self-checks, voluntary ethics and compliance pledges, and upgrades to its standard operating procedures. A company official said the award objectively recognizes its systems and enterprise-wide results.

Jung Heung-gyu, head of KEPCO's compliance management office, said the utility would advance its management systems through steps such as AI-driven automation. He pledged efforts to establish a transparent, fair corporate culture and a world-class compliance culture.
