Samsung C&T Wins 512.2 Billion Won Contract to Rebuild Yeouido's Mokhwa Apartments

Samsung C&T's construction arm has been named the builder for the reconstruction of the Mokhwa Apartments in Yeouido, Seoul, following a vote by the project's redevelopment union on September 12. The union confirmed the decision the following day, with the contract valued at approximately 512.2 billion won.

The project calls for three residential towers rising as high as 49 stories above seven basement levels, delivering 420 units along with community welfare facilities. The site sits in Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, within walking distance of Yeouinaru Station on subway Line 5 and directly across from Yeouido Hangang Park, with The Hyundai Seoul department store, IFC Mall and several Yeouido schools also nearby.

For the new complex, Samsung C&T has proposed the brand name 'RAEMIAN Y'NITY,' blending the letter 'Y' — a nod to Yeouido — with the concepts of dignity and boundless value. The design is intended to let every one of the 420 units enjoy a Han River view by separating and extending the residential core away from the site's center while opening up corner units, using two- and three-sided open floor plans and panoramic windows up to 12.4 meters wide with 2.95-meter ceilings.

Community amenities are planned across roughly 1,135 pyeong, about 300 pyeong larger than the union's original proposal, and will include a river-view lounge, terrace, fitness center, golf practice range, sauna and Pilates studio, alongside roughly 800 pyeong of resident-only garden space. Samsung C&T also plans to link a sunken basement plaza directly to Exit 4 of Yeouinaru Station, creating a public walkway toward Han River Park to improve accessibility for residents and passersby alike.

Im Cheol-jin, head of Samsung C&T's housing business division, described the site as a rare opportunity combining the value of both the Han River and Yeouido, pledging differentiated design and the firm's global expertise in super-tall construction. The win builds on Samsung C&T's earlier contract for the nearby Yeouido Daegyo Apartment redevelopment last year, further cementing the company's position as the lead builder shaping Yeouido's ongoing wave of reconstruction projects and setting it up to compete for additional redevelopment contracts in the area.
