Nvidia Corporation has finalized its payment of $1 billion to acquire a 4.13% stake in Naver Corporation, a significant move in the South Korean tech landscape.
The investment was made through a third-party rights offering, with Naver issuing over 6.5 million shares as part of the agreement. This transaction is expected to accelerate the development of their joint artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives, which were first announced in June.
Naver plans to enhance its GPU-based infrastructure, beginning with the Gak Sejong data center located in central South Korea. This will bolster its GPU-as-a-service offerings, positioning Naver as a key player in the AI sector.
The partnership between Nvidia and Naver reflects a growing trend of collaboration between global tech giants and South Korean firms, aimed at fostering innovation in artificial intelligence and related technologies.
