North Korea's Cabinet convened to assess its third-quarter economic performance and set yearly goals.
North Korea recently held an enlarged Cabinet meeting via video conference to review its economic performance for the third quarter of the year. The meeting, led by Premier Pak Thae-song, focused on evaluating the progress made towards the economic targets established earlier this year.
During the meeting, officials discussed the key objectives set during the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea, which took place in February. This congress outlined a new five-year economic plan aimed at fostering growth and self-reliance through 2030.
Vice Premier Kim Tok-hun highlighted that significant progress has been made in reinforcing the foundation of a self-reliant economy. He urged officials to adopt a more proactive approach to overcome existing challenges in implementing economic policies.
The Cabinet meeting particularly emphasized the need for increased production in critical sectors such as electricity, coal, agriculture, and construction. It also called for advancements in the development of the Hwasong district, a newly established residential area in Pyongyang, along with enhancements in local industrial factories.
