Kim Yo-jong has announced new countermeasures at the border with South Korea, including the readiness of loudspeakers for propaganda.
Kim Yo-jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, issued a stern warning regarding impending countermeasures along the inter-Korean border. In a statement released by the North's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), she declared that propaganda loudspeakers aimed at South Korea would be operational within days.
This announcement follows her recent inspection of North Korea's border fortifications, where she threatened potential military action against South Korean forces after they fired warning shots at North Korean soldiers crossing the border. Kim emphasized that these new measures would be implemented promptly at the southern border line.
The tensions have escalated since South Korea vowed to respond firmly to North Korean incursions, particularly after a recent incident involving warning shots. Kim's remarks also included a warning that South Korea could face dire consequences for any perceived mistakes, whether intentional or not.
Despite these threats, South Korea's military reported no signs of new weapon deployments by North Korea along the border. Officials stated they would maintain vigilant monitoring of the situation, while urging North Korea to cease provocations and engage in dialogue.
