NCSoft's shares have surged significantly after the successful launch of Aion 2, indicating a strong market recovery.
NCSoft, once struggling with a significant drop in share prices, is now experiencing a remarkable comeback following the global success of its new game, Aion 2. The game has attracted over 170,000 concurrent players on Steam, leading to a surge in NCSoft's stock price by approximately 17% over two trading sessions.
After reaching a low of around 190,000 won last month, NCSoft's shares closed at 244,500 won, marking a significant recovery. This turnaround is attributed to the positive reception of Aion 2, which has exceeded initial expectations and is anticipated to become a commercial hit.
Hyundai Motor Securities has raised its target price for NCSoft, reflecting confidence in the company's future profitability driven by Aion 2's performance. Analyst Choi Seung-ho noted that the game's early metrics suggest a strong commercial success is likely, although user retention post-launch will be crucial.
The resurgence of NCSoft's stock comes after a challenging period marked by its first operating loss in 26 years last year. The company had to undergo major restructuring, which included significant layoffs. However, the successful launch of Aion 2 could signal a new era of growth for NCSoft, as it prepares to release more titles in the coming year.
