Meritz Securities and Mirae Asset Securities have introduced new copper Total Return ETNs in South Korea.
In a strategic move towards commodity investments, Meritz Securities and Mirae Asset Securities have launched a suite of copper Total Return Exchange-Traded Notes (ETNs) in South Korea. These ETNs are designed to track the Solactive Copper Total Return Leverage Index Family.
Copper is a vital industrial commodity, with its demand driven by sectors such as electrification, renewable energy, and electric vehicles. The introduction of these ETNs reflects the growing interest in copper as an investment, particularly given its sensitivity to global economic trends and supply-demand fluctuations.
The Solactive Copper Leverage Index family, which the ETNs track, applies leverage factors to the underlying copper futures strategy, incorporating interest rates in the Total Return calculation. This provides investors with a structured approach to gain exposure to the copper market.
Timo Pfeiffer, Chief Markets Officer at Solactive, expressed enthusiasm for the launch, stating that it supports the growing role of copper in global infrastructure. The ETNs began trading on the Korea Exchange on October 23, 2026, marking a significant addition to the South Korean financial market.
