President Lee Jae Myung expresses optimism over South Korea's economic recovery.
President Lee Jae Myung has welcomed a significant rise in South Korea's potential growth outlook, describing it as a 'dramatic rebound' in the country's economic fundamentals.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) recently revised its projections for South Korea's potential growth rate to 2.14% for this year and 2.2% for 2027. This marks the first consecutive annual increases in nearly 40 years, a trend that Lee noted with optimism.
In a post on his social media account, Lee highlighted that this is the first time since the late 1980s that the nation has seen back-to-back increases in growth projections, attributing this to favorable economic conditions such as low oil prices and interest rates.
Lee emphasized the importance of sustaining this growth momentum and ensuring that its benefits are shared equitably across society. He described the upward revision as a 'very positive sign' for the South Korean economy, indicating a strong foundation for future growth.
