Krafton has partnered with Card Monster (CardMon) to turn its hit battle-royale franchise PUBG: Battlegrounds into a physical trading card game, with Solis Game Studio joining as development partner.

South Korean game maker Krafton is extending its flagship PUBG: Battlegrounds franchise beyond the screen, teaming with Card Monster to build a physical trading card game based on the popular battle royale.

Under the agreement, Card Monster β€” often shortened to CardMon β€” is leading development and publishing of the card game in partnership with Krafton, according to a report from tabletop industry outlet ICv2. Solis Game Studio, which recently published The Massive-verse card game, is joining the effort as a game development partner.

The move marks Krafton's push to grow the PUBG brand into licensed tabletop products, a route many major game publishers have taken to deepen fan engagement and open new revenue streams. The video game has drawn more than 75 million players worldwide since its original release in September 2018.

Details on the card game's mechanics, format and release window remain scarce. Solis Game Studio has opened a playtest program for the title, with the companies saying additional information will be shared later.

PUBG: Battlegrounds helped popularize the battle-royale genre and remains one of the most recognizable titles in Krafton's portfolio. Translating that fast-paced, last-player-standing tension into a card game presents both a creative challenge and a chance to reach hobby-store audiences who may never have picked up a controller.

For Krafton, listed in Seoul under the code 259960, the partnership is another step in a broader strategy to treat PUBG as a multi-platform franchise spanning games, media and now physical collectibles. The report noting the deal circulated across gaming outlets in recent days.
