Korean Air Finalizes Purchase Agreement for 103 Boeing Aircraft

Korean Air has officially finalized an agreement to purchase 103 Boeing aircraft and engines from GE Aerospace, valued at approximately 60 trillion won (US$44.8 billion). This landmark deal was confirmed during a signing ceremony held in Seoul, attended by key executives and government officials from both South Korea and the United States.

The agreement encompasses a diverse fleet of aircraft, including 20 Boeing 777-9s, 25 787-10s, 50 737-10s, and eight 777-8F freighters. Additionally, Korean Air has secured contracts worth about $8.6 billion for spare engines and maintenance services for 28 aircraft.

Walter Cho, CEO of Korean Air, expressed pride in completing the procurement plan initially announced in Washington, D.C., in August 2025. He emphasized that this agreement signifies more than just a business transaction; it reflects the strong alliance between South Korea and the United States.

Korean Air's investment is expected to enhance its fleet capabilities and support its planned integration with Asiana Airlines, scheduled for December. This strategic move highlights the airline's commitment to expanding its operational capacity in the competitive aerospace market.
