Hyundai Motor to Supply 480 Hydrogen Buses to Sunjin Group by 2032

Hyundai Motor Co. has announced a significant contract to supply 480 hydrogen fuel cell buses to the public transportation operator Sunjin Group by 2032. This agreement marks a pivotal step in South Korea's ongoing investment in clean energy technology and industrial expansion.

The memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed with Sunjin Group, which currently operates around 1,700 buses in the Seoul metropolitan area and southwestern regions of South Korea. Alongside this, Hyundai is collaborating with HyNet, a hydrogen charging infrastructure operator, to enhance hydrogen mobility and related facilities.

Under the terms of the agreement, Hyundai will deliver the buses in phases leading up to 2032. Additionally, existing compressed natural gas (CNG) stations in Gyeonggi Province will be upgraded to hydrogen refueling stations to support the new fleet.

HyNet is set to construct and manage large-scale hydrogen refueling stations, which will be crucial for the operational success of the expanded fleet. This initiative not only promotes the use of hydrogen as a clean fuel alternative but also aligns with global trends towards sustainable transportation solutions.
