Hyundai Engineering has successfully won contracts for two major data center projects in Korea, highlighting its growth in the sector.
Hyundai Engineering has announced that it has secured consecutive contracts for data center projects in Korea, including a significant new-build project in Gunsan worth approximately $870 billion won.
The company revealed on October 7 that it also won a new-build project for a data center in Wonschang-dong, following the success in Gunsan. This marks a significant expansion of Hyundai Engineering's presence in the data center sector, which is becoming increasingly important in the AI era.
To support this growth, Hyundai Engineering established a dedicated data center organization this year, focusing on developing its technological infrastructure capabilities. The company is leveraging its expertise in electrical and mechanical engineering, which it gained through its experience in plant and advanced industrial facility construction.
Hyundai Engineering plans to broaden its business scope beyond just design and construction to include maintenance services. Additionally, the company is exploring innovative ways to integrate renewable energy sources, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), and hydrogen into its data center power supply systems.
A representative from Hyundai Engineering stated, "Based on our track record and competitiveness in high-tech construction, we are continuously winning data center projects. We aim to further expand our data center business, which is a core infrastructure in the AI era."
