Doosan Enerbility Co., a South Korean power plant equipment manufacturer, has announced a return to profitability in the third quarter of 2026. The company reported a net profit of 14.9 billion won (approximately $11.1 million), a significant turnaround from a loss of 24 billion won in the same period last year.
The surge in earnings was largely attributed to robust performance in its energy business, with operating profit soaring by 90.6% year-on-year to reach 261.2 billion won. Sales also saw a notable increase of 14.7%, totaling 4.44 trillion won. The company credits this success to a more favorable mix of higher-margin projects, particularly in nuclear power and gas turbines.
Looking ahead, Doosan Enerbility anticipates a substantial increase in global demand for large nuclear reactors through 2030, with potential orders expected from markets in the United States and Europe. This optimistic outlook reflects the company's strategic positioning in the energy sector.
However, the company also faced challenges, as Korea Hydro Nuclear Power Co. announced the termination of negotiations with a South Korean construction consortium, which included Doosan Enerbility, regarding a contract to build two nuclear reactors in the Czech Republic. Despite this setback, Doosan confirmed that its existing contract to supply major equipment for the Czech project remains unaffected and is progressing as planned.
