The South Korean National Security Office demands an end to North Korea's missile tests.
The South Korean presidential National Security Office (NSO) has called for North Korea to immediately cease its illegal ballistic missile launches. This demand comes amid escalating tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
During an emergency meeting, officials from the NSO condemned North Korea's recent missile activities as a serious violation of international sanctions. The meeting followed the detection of multiple missile launches from the Pyongyang area into the East Sea, which raised alarms within the South Korean military.
Kang Yu-jung, a spokesperson for the NSO, stated, "North Korea's repeated ballistic missile launches are grave acts that violate U.N. Security Council resolutions and do not contribute to managing the current situation on the Korean Peninsula."
The NSO emphasized the need for all necessary measures to be taken in response to these provocations, while also assessing their impact on South Korea's security. This incident marks a continuation of heightened tensions, particularly following recent allegations of North Korean responsibility for mine explosions that injured South Korean soldiers.
As the situation develops, the South Korean government remains vigilant and prepared to respond to any further provocations from the North.
