Amorepacific has introduced Skinsight, a wearable 'electronic skin' platform that analyses the causes of skin ageing in real time and recommends tailored skincare, marking what the company calls a new era of skin longevity.
South Korean cosmetics giant Amorepacific has unveiled Skinsight, an "electronic skin" platform that the company says heralds a new era of skin longevity by analysing the causes of skin ageing in real time and proposing personalised skincare solutions.
The system combines three core elements: an ultra-thin wearable sensor patch that adheres to the skin, a Bluetooth transmission module that relays the collected data, and an AI-powered mobile application that interprets the readings and generates tailored recommendations.
According to Amorepacific, the sensor is designed to detect micrometre-level changes in skin tightness, along with exposure to ultraviolet and blue light, temperature and moisture levels. By capturing these signals continuously, the platform aims to pinpoint the underlying drivers of ageing rather than simply describing surface symptoms.
The move reflects a broader push across the beauty industry toward data-driven, hyper-personalised products, as brands look to differentiate themselves with technology that connects skincare routines to measurable biometric data.
For Amorepacific, listed in Seoul under ticker 090430, Skinsight underscores its ambition to position itself at the intersection of cosmetics and consumer electronics, an area where K-beauty companies have increasingly sought to lead. The company framed the launch around the concept of "skin longevity," signalling a shift from anti-ageing marketing toward long-term skin health.
The platform arrives as wearable health and beauty devices gain traction globally, though questions around accuracy, data privacy and pricing will likely shape how quickly such next-generation tools reach mainstream consumers.
